The classic Charlotte Russe begins with a mold lined with sponge cake, ladyfingers or bread thatís been buttered. The lined mold is then filled with layers of fruit and custard or whipped cream, then chilled before being unmolded. This mould can also be heated in the oven for making a spiced apple charlotte.
